Hubbard Street offers multiple ways for dancers located anywhere in the world to audition for our Summer Intensives, including our Audition Tour at studios across the country, a live virtual audition, and by video submission. Read on for all the details and requirements of each audition option below.

Live Audition Information & Requirements

Pre-registration is required for all scheduled auditions and closes 24 hours prior to the audition. Participant capacity for live auditions varies in each city; thus, registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

PRE-REGISTER NOW

  • Auditions will consist of a technique class (ballet and/or contemporary) followed by learning a short repertoire phrase and conclude with dancer improvisation.  Dancers participate in the entire audition without round cuts. Participants will need to be available for the entire audition duration. In the event a dancer is not available for the entirety of the audition, please notify our staff in advance for approval.

  • For technique class, the dancer must wear form-fitting apparel and ballet shoes. Body lines must be clearly visible, and the hair should be pulled back and out of the dancer’s face.

  • If you cannot attend a live audition, you are encouraged to attend our virtual audition on January 16, 2027 or submit a video audition for consideration. The deadline to submit a video audition is February 21, 2027. Click the Video Auditions tab above to learn more about our video submission requirements.
  • A dancer must meet our minimum age requirements to attend our Intensives. This means a dancer must be at least 18 years old by June 1 for consideration into our Adult Intensive CREATE and by July 1 for EXPLORE, and a dancer must be 13 years old by June 1 to be considered for TEEN CREATE and by July 1 for TEEN EXPLORE.
  • In most audition cities, we offer an audition for each age group (teens 13-17 and adults 18-30). If only one audition time is listed, then this audition is appropriate for both age groups. If you wish to attend an in-person audition but the available time slot for your age group doesn't work, please email intensives@hubbardstreetdance.com.

  • To participate in our virtual audition on January 16, 2027, please sign in using your device. Dancers are only allowed to share a single device if approved by staff in advance. We recommend finding a space with a reliable internet connection where the artistic panel can view your entire body.

  • A limited amount of financial aid is available to dancers attending our Summer Intensives. After being accepted, dancers can apply for assistance, which will be awarded based on financial need.

  • In the event of inclement weather, updates or audition cancellations will be posted on the Hubbard Street Dance Chicago’s website. Should we need to cancel an audition due to weather or any other unforeseeable cause, dancers who pre-registered for the audition will be granted the opportunity to submit a video audition.
