Hubbard Street Dance Chicago will hold auditions for the 2026/27 Season on March 13-15, 2026 in Chicago on an invite-only basis.
- Contract Dates: August 1, 2026 - July 31, 2027
- Creation and Rehearsal: Approx. 26 weeks per year
- Chicago Performances: 4 weeks per year
- Touring: Approx. 10 weeks per year
- Teaching & Training: Dancers' pedagogical research and practice are cultivated by their participation as instructors in our 8-week long Summer Intensive programs. Teaching is not regularly expected during the performance season. Compositional research and practice are encouraged during Inside/Out, a dancer-produced presentation featuring the choreographic works of the Company Dancers with time and space provided.
- HSDC will consider dancers who are not US citizens throughout the audition process. If hired, HSDC will cover all visa fees.
HSDC offers Company Dancers 52-week contracts with salaries ranging from $40k–$60k per year based on experience with 3% annual raises, 4 weeks paid vacation, 11 paid holidays, and 5 sick days. HSDC provides health, dental, and vision insurance, short & long-term disability, life insurance, 403(b) retirement plan, free physical therapy, an employee assistance program (EAP), an HRA reimbursement for eligible employees, and a generous parental leave policy.
PHASE 1: VIDEO SUBMISSION OPEN CALL
All are welcome to submit video for consideration to participate in the in-person audition to be held in Chicago, IL, March 13-15, 2026.
Please submit the following requirements via email to auditions@hubbardstreetdance.com:

- Headshot/Bio (attachment acceptable)
- One video link not to exceed 4-minutes including the following sections:
- Ballet technique (center work only)
- Please submit material that reflects an understanding of contemporary repertoire. Pointe only footage will not provide an accurate reflection of your versatility as it relates to the company.
- Solo improvisation
- Performance
- Ballet technique (center work only)
NOTE: Your video must be submitted via link, (i.e. Vimeo, YouTube, Google Drive). If your video is sent as an email attachment, the submission will not be accepted.
Video Submission Deadline: January 31, 2026, 6pm CST
If accepted to the next stage of the audition, you will receive an email from Hubbard Street Dance Chicago no later than February 13, 2026.
PHASE 2: IN-PERSON AUDITION
If selected to participate in the live Chicago audition, please reserve the weekend of March 13-15, 2026. Exact schedule TBD.
- In-person auditions will take place in downtown Chicago at HSDC's studio in Water Tower Place (835 N Michigan Ave., 4th Floor).
- Plan on a 4-hour commitment consisting of a ballet barre, contemporary center and HSDC repertoire.
- Cuts will be made following class.
- Be prepared with water bottle, knee pads and socks.
- Masks are not mandatory but will be available.
PHASE 3: CALL-BACK (REP)
By the end of your audition class on March 13-14, you will know if you are selected for the call-back on Sunday, March 15, from 11:00am - 5:00pm CST. Please keep this timeframe open. Dancers must be available for the entire call-back, no exceptions.
Please note:
- The call-back will consist of class, additional HSDC rep, and interviews.
- Cuts will be made throughout.
- Be prepared with water bottle, kneepads and socks.
