Hubbard Street offers multiple ways for dancers located anywhere in the world to audition for our Summer Intensives, including our Audition Tour at studios across the country, a live virtual audition, video submission, and our Social Media Challenge.  Read on for all the details and requirements of each audition option below.

Video Audition Information & Requirements


PRIORITY DEADLINE NOW CLOSED – EXTENSION WINDOW OPEN

The video audition Priority Deadline for the 2026 Summer Intensives was February 11, 2026. All applications received by that date are currently under review and will receive first consideration for both admission and financial assistance.

We are now accepting a limited number of additional video auditions for remaining spots in the 2026 programs. We are opening this extension so that dancers who discovered the opportunity late, or who experienced barriers to submitting on time, can still be considered for remaining spaces.

APPLY FOR EXTENSION

Videos must include a spoken introduction, ballet barre, center floor work, and an improv component. Videos must be sent through a Vimeo or YouTube link. Please adjust the privacy settings so your video is accessible without a password. Only complete applications will be accepted. Our video guidelines are listed below.

VIDEO GUIDELINES

Part 1: Vocal Introduction
Please clearly articulate the following questions below:  

  • What is your full name?
  • What is your current age?
  • Where is your city or country of residence?
  • What inspires you to dance?
  • Why are you interested in auditioning for our Summer Intensive?

Part 2: Ballet Barre
Each combination should be a minimum of 32 counts, executed with music, and performed on the dancer’s right and left side at the ballet barre. 

  • Tendu with Ronde Jambes
  • Fondu with Developpes
  • Grand Battement

Part 3: Center Technique Work
Each combination should be a minimum of 32 counts, executed with music, and performed on the dancer’s right and left side in the center. Center work can be filmed in any genre that exhibits a technique (i.e. Horton, Ballet, Cunningham, etc).

  • A small + medium jumping phrase
  • Turning phrase
  • Movement phrase

Part 4: Improvisation
Please include 30 seconds of improv performed in the studio or stage (please do not include ensemble work). 

Additional Reminders:

  • Only complete applications will be accepted.
  • Video files must be submitted using a Vimeo or YouTube link. Please adjust the privacy settings so your video is accessible without a password.
  • A dancer must meet our minimum age requirements to attend our Intensives. This means a dancer must be at least 18 years old by June 1, 2026, for consideration into our Adult Intensives (CREATE and EXPLORE), and a dancer must be 13 years old by June 1, 2026, to be considered for our Teen Intensives (TEEN CREATE and TEEN REP). Dancers will be considered for the appropriate Intensives based on their date of birth.
  • A limited amount of financial aid is available to dancers attending our Summer Intensives. Dancers are eligible to apply for aid after they have been accepted into our Summer Intensives. Assistance will be awarded based on financial need.

Live Audition Information & Requirements

Our 2026 Audition Tour of in-person auditions has concluded. We are now accepting a limited number of video auditions for remaining spots in the 2026 programs. Please click the Video Auditions tab above for more information.

Audition results for dancers who participated in our Audition Tour will be sent via email. Questions may be directed to intensives@hubbardstreetdance.com.

Social Media Audition Challenge

Do you have what it takes to be admitted into HSDC’s TEEN REP or EXPLORE Summer Intensive with just a 30-second video? Audition by participating in our Social Media Audition Challenge to be fast-tracked through the admission and receive a $250 scholarship!

The 2026 Social Media Audition Challenge has ended. Join us for an in-person audition on our 2026 Audition Tour or submit a video audition by Feb. 11, 2026.

HOW TO ENTER:

  • Record a 30-second video of yourself dancing to music of your choice. You must choose a combination of three of the following styles: Ballet Barre, Center/Floor Work, Improvisation, Jazz, Cultural Dance, or Hip-Hop. Moderate post-production/editing is permitted and highly encouraged.

  • To be considered, post your audition video publicly to TikTok or Instagram and tag @hubbardstreet by December 27, 2025. Your account must be public for us to track submissions, and we will only be able to consider audition videos that tag @hubbardstreet.

  • Social Media Audition Challenge participants do not have to pay an audition fee. Please note that you must pay the registration fee if you later choose to audition through other traditional methods (in-person or video).

  • Social Media Audition Challenge winners will be accepted into the EXPLORE or TEEN REP Intensive and awarded a $250 scholarship. Winners will be notified by January 7, 2026.

  • Participants who are not accepted through the Social Media Audition Challenge can still opt to audition through any of the other traditional methods (in-person or video).
