Originally choreographed by Bob Fosse for his Broadway show Dancin’, the athletic, balletic tour-de-force solo Percussion IV returns to Hubbard Street, the exclusive repertory home for Fosse/Verdon works in partnership with The Verdon Fosse® Legacy. Resident Artist Aszure Barton’s mesmerizing duet A Duo kicks off the third year of her residency at Hubbard Street alongside audience favorite IMPASSE by Johan Inger, praised by the Chicago Tribune as “a weird and wonderful joy bomb.”

Like “an exuberant burst of fresh air” (The Boston Globe), Amy Hall Garner’s effervescent full company piece As the Wind Blows (2022) returns to Chicago on the heels of Garner’s recent New York City Ballet and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater commissions. New to the repertoire, the high-energy Touch & Agree by Juel D. Lane explores the nuances of modern relationships over a soundtrack featuring Sam Cooke, James Blake, H.E.R., and Byrell the Great. The sweeping Gnawa by Nacho Duato closes the program, a beloved full company work originally created for Hubbard Street in 2005 that Dance Magazine called an "almost religious experience."

The iconic trio Sweet Gwen Suite by Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon returns alongside Fosse's vivacious solo Percussion IV, the very piece that kicked off Hubbard Street's relationship with Fosse back in 1991. A big, bold new work by Hubbard Street’s visionary Resident Artist Aszure Barton serves as the grand finale to Spring Series.
