POSITION TITLE: Development Coordinator
DEPARTMENT: Development
REPORTS TO: Associate Director of Development
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
At Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, our mission is to awaken the human spirit through contemporary dance, envisioning a dance landscape that is relevant and accessible to all.
Hubbard Street Dance Chicago is seeking a professional to join the Development Team. HSDC’s Development Coordinator will support essential components of development work, including data management and hygiene, prospect research, gift processing, and donor stewardship. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who hopes to gain a holistic understanding of nonprofit fundraising while supporting the work of a leading contemporary dance company rapidly approaching its 50th anniversary season.
Hubbard Street is a hybrid work environment. The Development team conducts day-to-day operations remotely between the hours of 9am-5pm, team members are encouraged to work in-person 1-2 days per week. In-person attendance is required for all performances, events, and meetings/projects as needed. On average HSDC hosts 1 fundraiser a year; roughly 10-15 cultivation/stewardship events; and 3 performance series in the Fall, Spring, and Winter.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
- $45,000 per year

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
DONOR DATABASE
- Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Development, maintain up-to-date and accurate records for donor information and contributions in the Tessitura database.
- Generate weekly gift reports and monthly budget and campaign-specific analysis.
- Assist in donor recognition implementation by generating accurate lists of donors for program books and the annual report.
- Assist in the development and generation of mailing lists for various stewardship and solicitation purposes throughout the year.
- Other duties related to Tessitura database as assigned.
ADMINISTRATIVE AND FINANCE COORDINATION

Assist the Finance Department by completing monthly reconciliations and compiling gift documentation during the annual audit.

Assist with coordination and communication with various vendors and external partners.

Research prospective donors and create donor profiles for fundraising calls and board recruitment.

Other duties as assigned.
DONOR COMMUNICATIONS
- Generate and (e-)mail gift acknowledgments and tax receipts using Tessitura and Microsoft Office.
- Support donor membership programs, including issuing donor benefits communications via email.
- Other duties as assigned.
MEETING AND EVENT SUPPORT

Coordinate and attend quarterly board meetings, and committee meetings to provide administrative support and take minutes.

Provide administrative and logistical support on all stewardship, cultivation and fundraising events for department including the annual gala.
CAMPAIGN SUPPORT

Support logistics and planning for organizational leadership to prepare for and schedule campaign meetings with donors and campaign committees/leadership.

Establish campaign fundraising structure in Tessitura and regularly track, acknowledge, and report on campaign progress.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicant should have 1-2 years of fundraising, database management, communications or related experience, including internship experience; possess excellent technological and organizational skills, and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

The applicant should demonstrate the ability to exercise discretion and appropriate judgment with confidential materials.

The applicant should possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a team-oriented attitude.

Experience with Tessitura database is highly desirable. Experience working within a CRM is required.

Knowledge of maintaining and analyzing donor/patron data and experience in prospect research is highly desirable.

Applicants should be skilled with Microsoft Office applications.

POSITION TITLE: Summer Intensive Resident Advisor
DEPARTMENT: Summer Intensive Program (Ages 13 - 17)
REPORTS TO: Manager of Training Operations
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
At Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, our purpose is to awaken the human spirit through contemporary dance. We nurture diverse voices in contemporary dance, opening new pathways to growth, learning, and discovery in Chicago and worldwide.
This is a seasonal, full-time position for our Teen Summer Intensive Programs in Chicago, IL, in partnership with Roosevelt University and Columbia College Chicago. We seek an experienced and responsible resident advisor (RA) to join Hubbard Street’s Summer Intensive Staff. The Summer Intensive RAs supervise up to 15 students between the ages of 13 and 17 during scheduled classes, lunch breaks, activities, and in the dormitory. RAs ensure that students are always safe, eating responsibly, and respecting all rules established by Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, the student dorms, and studio partners.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Actively build a welcoming community where every student feels they belong. Facilitate group activities, social events, and discussions that connect students, encouraging them to share their backgrounds, perspectives, and aspirations.
- Uphold program guidelines with empathy and respect, ensuring policies support a positive community where curiosity and artistic expression can flourish.
- Build supportive and professional relationships grounded in respect and encouragement that promote a sense of belonging.
- Prioritize the physical and emotional safety of each student by providing attentive supervision and creating a secure environment. Listen empathetically to student concerns and maintain a caring and open approach to addressing their needs.
- Demonstrate respectful and professional behavior in all interactions with students and HSDC staff. Uphold the program’s values through consistent, positive leadership, setting a standard of integrity and mutual respect for students to follow.
- Approach challenges with flexibility and a solutions-oriented mindset, working collaboratively with students and staff to resolve conflicts or issues. Use creativity and compassion to find solutions that reflect the program’s commitment to artistry, belonging, and curiosity.
- Serve as a mentor and role model by acting as a reliable student resource, ensuring accessibility, approachability, and responsiveness. Provide guidance that is both empathetic and culturally sensitive.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Hubbard Street prefers candidates with demonstrable experience advocating for equity, diversity, and inclusion. Applicants for the Summer Intensive Resident Advisor also must:
- Be available for the full program duration: Saturday, June 20 – Saturday, August 1, 2026, plus additional required trainings
- Be a minimum age of 21 and reside in the student dorms
- Have previous experience with students 13 - 17 years of age
- Be able to physically assist an injured student
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate alignment to HSDC’s core values: Artistry, Belonging, and Curiosity
- Ability to manage and resolve conflict
- Show an interest in Arts, Education, or Youth Development
- Be adaptable, and capable of indepedent problem-solving abilities
DETAILS:
RAs will receive:
- A stipend of $3,900, allocated into weekly payments of $650.00
- Housing at the student dorms located in Chicago’s Loop
- Reimbursement for travel fees associated with student activities
- The opportunity to train with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago Company Dancers and Leadership
