Hubbard Street + USC Kaufman

Level IV Pre-Professional

Hubbard Street Dance Chicago is excited to partner with the University of Southern California’s Glorya Kaufman School of Dance to host a new and unique, Pre-Professional Summer Intensive experience focused on the choreographic process, to be held August 1–12, 2016 on campus in Los Angeles.

This two-week workshop follows up on a visit by Hubbard Street Artistic Director Glenn Edgerton to USC Kaufman in November 2015, during which he taught master classes to students enrolled in its BFA program. On March 23, 2016, Hubbard Street 2 performs at Bovard Auditorium as part of its residency through “Visions and Voices,” the arts and humanities initiative at USC.

Participants in the Level IV USC Kaufman Summer Intensive will take part in an in-depth creative process with Princess Grace Award–winning choreographer Robyn Mineko Williams, concluding with a presentation of this original work at USC Kaufman on August 12, 2016.

Please note that acceptance to the Level IV USC Kaufman Summer Intensive program is by audition only. Dancers must attend one of our 2016 Summer Intensive Audition Tour opportunities or make other arrangements if necessary, as outlined at the bottom of this page. Those who are offered placement in our Level IV Summer Intensive may choose the four-week Chicago program, July 5–29, 2016; the two-week Los Angeles program, August 1–12, 2016; or both programs for a total of six weeks.

Space for the Level IV USC Kaufman Summer Intensive is especially limited to 25 dancers — immediate registration upon notification of your acceptance is highly recommended. Both Chicago and Los Angeles Level IV Summer Intensives are designed for pre-professional and early-career dancers ages 18–24.

Future partnership activities offered by Hubbard Street + USC Kaufman will continue to evolve. Stay tuned for further announcements regarding this collaboration, and click here to read more about the Hubbard Street + USC Kaufman partnership.
