Right Into Reading" |

This program is designed to strengthen
the connections between arts and academics in classrooms,
developing sequential curricula and/or integrating the arts
into their school communities. Accredited by the CPS Teachers
Academy and the Illinois State Board of Education, HSDC’s Education & Community
Programs have been providing professional development to educators since
1997 and offer Lane Credit for “Move Right into Reading” only
and CEUs/CPDUs for all courses.
Monday, June 23-Wednesday, June 25
9 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Learn the elements if dance and explore the creative
process |

Identify the content skills and strategies the
arts teach, and their relevance in the classroom |

Gain an understanding of the Illinois Arts Standards,
and their connections to standards in other subject
areas |

Inspire students to create, perform and reflect
on works of art |
| • |
Discover innovative assessment and evaluation methods
for using the arts in the classroom |
| • |
Understand how to present, structure and facilitate
arts-integrated activities in the classroom |

Leave with several lesson plans for use in the
classroom |

LCDS Dance Classes |

Expand your appreciation,
understanding and knowledge of dance by taking Lou
Conte Dance Studio classes at a discounted rate.
These classes are available to K - 12 educators and
specialists who are currently employed full time by a public
school in a Chicago-area school district. Illinois State Board of Education re-certification

Educator Discount: 40% off single classes and 10-class
cards
Only full-time, K-12 educators and curriculum specialists
are eligible for this discount. Administrative, support,
and student services staff are not eligible; neither
are graduate students, student teachers, nor university-level
faculty and staff. Discount limited to educators working
in Illinois's Cook, Lake, McHenry, Kane, DuPage
and Will counties.
